Which images work best?

Choosing which image to upload can make a noticeable difference in your Story Portrait. The same is true of taking a selfie or uploading an image. Here are a few primary tips:

The head pose should be front-facing as much as possible (not looking to the side or up or down)
Best to upload photos that are not blurry, too dark or too noisy (fuzzy)
Avoid big toothy grins or anything obscuring the face like eyeglasses (actually best not to smile)
Don't use an image that has your face interconnected with another face.
Try not to have any object touching your face.
You can be multiple people in an image but the AI will detect the best phase to apply the animation to. (We are working on letting you make this decision.)

How does this technology work?

When you upload a photograph the deep-learning technology makes it come to life by adding movement to the face in the form of blinking, turning of the head, smiling, and singing along with the music. A short video captures this realistic movement with high quality that you can save to your GoodTrust Library, download them and share with your family and friends.

What is the GoodTrust AI Pledge?

With new technologies come new responsibilities. And with the advancement of technology comes new opportunities to share and preserve stories and memories in entirely new ways.

We know this is a nascent technology and is cause for concern when it comes to accuracy, privacy, and ethical use. It’s broadly referred to as synthetic media and will continue to evolve at a rapid pace. Some people are concerned about “deep fakes” or trying to fool the public or individuals. We want to help lead these discussions and explorations and we want to assure you that we’re mindful of these sensitivities and considerations. We will constantly review our internal filters and restrictions with content and provide transparency.

So to do this we have created what we call the "GoodTrust AI Pledge".

Is this technology created by GoodTrust?

This technology was introduced by the Israeli startup D-ID that specializes in facial-reenactment technology using deep learning. GoodTrust integrated this technology to animate faces in uploaded photographs. We're working closely with D-ID as they continue to innovate with it in new ways and we'll announce more features soon.

Where are the Story portraits saved? And what can I do with them?

You can download the Story Portraits as videos to your mobile or PC and they are also saved in your GoodTrust Library. We encourage you to share these memorable video clips with friends and family. You can use the 'Share' option via Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Twitter, WhatsApp and email. You can also use them to create a Future Message like a digital time capsule. It's all about surprise and delight.

Can I use an image with multiple faces?

Yes. You can be multiple people in an image but the AI will detect the best face to apply the animation to. The current technology only allows one face to be animated at a time.
